Dr Cary A Presant, M.D., F.A.C.P. a hematologist and medical oncologist, is a staff physician at Wilshire Oncology Medical Group. He has been involved in laboratory and clinical investigations, and has served as director of cancer programs at Washington University School of Medicine, the Jewish Hospital of St Louis, and the City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr Presant is currently professor of clinical medicine at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, and is the Chairman of the Los Angeles Cancer Institute, St. Vincent Medical Center.
Dr Presant’s current research in West Covina, California, and at the Los Angeles Cancer Institute is focused on aromatase inhibitor therapy of breast cancer, pharmacologic improvement of chemotherapy effectiveness of by magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and the development of new therapeutic programs for cancer. He is the author of over 400 scientific articles and is a recognized expert in cancer treatment, cancer detection, chemotherapy, experimental tumor biology and pharmacology, measurement of quality of life in cancer patients, and quality care in oncology.
As an author, Dr. Presant has written ‘Surviving American Medicine”, soon to be published, and is a contributor to both the San Marino Tribune and Beverly Hills Courier Newspapers. Dr Presant is a past President of the Los Angeles chaper of the American Cancer Society.
Dr Presant was born in Buffalo, New York. He received his medical degree in 1966 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and completed his postdoctoral training at Columbia University in New York City, the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He lives with his wife, Sheila and their four children in San Marino, California.
